Utility Shop is committed to protecting the safety, wellbeing and dignity of all customers. We do not tolerate any form of family or domestic violence and are here to support customers who may be experiencing it.
What is family and domestic violence?
Family and domestic violence can occur in many ways. It may also be referred to as relationship violence or intimate partner violence.
It is not limited to physical harm. Family and domestic violence can involve a wide range of behaviours, including but not limited to:
Economic or financial abuse
Actions that restrict a person’s financial freedom or independence. This may include coercing someone to hand over control of their income or assets, placing bills or accounts in their name without taking responsibility for them, or using money as a way to intimidate or control.Emotional or psychological abuse
Behaviour that belittles, undermines or disregards a person’s feelings, opinions or experiences. This could include name-calling, ridicule, threats, or attempts to damage a person’s confidence or mental wellbeing.Sexual abuse
Any unwanted or non-consensual sexual contact, including threats of sexual contact.Threatening or coercive behaviour
Actions intended to scare, pressure or force someone into doing things against their will.Controlling or dominating behaviour
Any pattern of behaviour designed to isolate, intimidate or overpower someone. This may include restricting contact with family or friends, monitoring movements or communication, or creating fear for one’s personal safety or the safety of others.
How can we help
Account
If you tell us that you’re experiencing family and domestic violence, your account will be moved into a special staging area so its clearly recognised by staff that special considerations are required and to prevent third part access.
